PMTS has steadily grown in the non- emergency medical transportation area due to our commitment to compassionate service & our ability to insure on- time performance. As we began to build relationships with case managers, social workers, & other patient advocates, it became clear to us that Ventura County was sorely lacking a transportation provider who could provide reliable service to those patients who did not meet ambulance necessity requirements, but needed transportation to medical appointments & related meetings.
While public transportation services existed, & other ambulance agencies claimed to provide this service, those options were difficult to arrange, unreliable, or unable to provide inside service/ physical assistance for patients. In July 2002, PMTS purchased a $40,000 custom equipped wheelchair/ gurney transport van, & introduced "prestige medical transport service" to the community.
The van, which can accommodate wheelchair/ gurney & ambulatory patients, features a flat hydraulic lift to smoothly lift patients, a half- bench seat for family or medical staff who may accompany the patient, & state of the art safety restraint systems, both in the floor tie- down systems & a unique seatbelt system designed specifically to restrain wheelchair/ gurney patients.
Another wheelchair/ gurney transport van was added in February 2003. PMTS is becoming a valuable component of our community. The service is utilized by hospital discharge patients, dialysis & therapy patients, & physician appointment, & other transportation needs by patients & community members who would be otherwise unable to easily arrive at their appointments.
PMTS is staffed by medically trained personnel, are accustomed to interacting with medical staff & transporting medical documents, patient belongings, & other components of medical transportation. Our personnel are considerate of the need for clean vehicles & safe, smooth transportation for all of our patients.
