I became interested in photography in the early 90's while in grade school. Spending time in the darkroom, and not going to class as much as possible. Throughout the years, I've dabbled in sports photography and done some weddings. Recently I made the jump to turn my hobby into a part time job. I am now a registered business.
All of my gear has backups in the event of a failure. It happens, I've had it happen in the middle of a wedding. I carry all professional level gear, not a cheap DSLR that you walk down to your local box store and purchase.
Experience. I've shot a number of weddings. Some in simple environments, others by candlelight. Weddings are the most challenging event that a photographer will be presented with. They are fast paced, and there is no second chance to get the shot. You need an experienced photographer who is not going to be fumbling with their camera as you're walking down the aisle.
