My name is Eyakem Gulilat, pronounced Yahkum Gooleelat. I am originally from Ethiopia, but have lived in the United States for the last 10 years. Currently I reside in Austin, Texas. I graduated from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas with a photojournalism degree.

I am passionate about people and their interaction with one another and the environments they live in. I take pictures to express the essence of a person and their emotions in a single moment. Photography enables me to see beyond the individual.
