Since its opening in 1969, the Oakland Museum of California has been acclaimed for its unique view of the California experience from the shared perspectives of art, history and the environment. With its revolutionary design, halls, and galleries, it is, in the words of one critic, "an incomparable setting for art, festivity, and noble events."
Events may be held in a variety of areas, including the Museum Restaurant with its walls of glass, terrace views, fully-equipped catering kitchen, and seating capacity of 150. Downstairs, the James Moore Theater seats 270, while the Great Court Gardens, a splendid plaza of cedar, oak, and redwood trees, accommodates 2,000 for a standing reception and 600 for a tented, seated dinner.
Additionally, the museum offers outdoor sculpture courts and 108,800 square feet of gallery space, including the dramatic 12,800 square-foot Great Hall. With its hardwood floors and vaulted ceiling the Great Hall plays host to a superb series of changing exhibitions. Secure indoor parking for up to 175 vehicles is also available.
Oakland Museum of California has received approximately 123 profile views in the last three months.
