The original Gatehouse and its barns were built in 1910 as a dairy farm. In 1990 the Jenkinsons purchased and renovated the adjoining Dove House property, turning it into an event facility for weddings, social events and conferences. In March of 1993 they purchased The Gatehouse property and began the renovation process to create another beautiful but larger location for events.
The Jenkinsons wanted the look of The Gatehouse to be different from that of The Dove House while still having the same charm, style and flexibility in layout to meet the client’s needs. To achieve this, they added a 12,000 square-foot addition to the existing house to accommodate up to 650 guests for a cocktail event or formally seating 370 in one room.
The Jenkinsons have purchased many antique architectural pieces from all over the world to give the facility its unique history and eclectic character. Some of the pieces include a 130-year-old 14’ x 12’ stained-glass window from France, a rare diamond dust mirror from Germany, a Victorian staircase from Denver and an iron front door from Argentina, to name just a few.
Other buildings on the property have also been restored. The “Carriage Barn” has been converted into the maintenance and production building for both facilities. The original “Milk House” has been renovated and used for gifts during summer weddings. The old bunk house has been renovated to create the “Guest Cottage.” Future plans include restoring the “Horse Barn” and “Silo” into the owners home florial shop and art gallery with an 1890 staircase from the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires.
