Exciting newcomer to the Tribute Artist scene, this artist has the look and sound of “the Greatest Star”, the incomparable Barbra Streisand. Singing live, Carla recreates the excitement and high energy vocals of Streisand’s most powerful numbers and at the same time has the capability of singing with a beauty and purity of sound essential for the ballads that are so closely associated with this greatest of all singing actresses.
Carla brings to this project more than 25 years of professional experience as a singer and performer. Having spent most of her career as a classically trained opera singer, she has been inspired by and drawn to the voice and artistry of Miss Streisand for as long as she can remember. She is now ready to move into this new phase of her singing career.
This project began as many have in the “impersonator” business. Over the years, friends, family and strangers often remarked about her resemblance to Streisand in looks and mannerisms as well as her voice. Over and over she would hear “has anyone ever told you that you look like?” Two years ago she began to think about it in a more serious way. Her Streisand impersonation had its premiere performance at the Sunburst Convention for Look-Alikes and Celebrity Impersonators in Orlando, Fl. in 2006. To say that the response has been overwhelming would be an understatement.
Her vision is to expand her show in order to encompass more of Miss Streisand’s career and music. She plans to take on the look, sound and songs of the young singer around the time of her debut TV special “My Name is Barbra”, and then move forward in order to portray the mature artist we know today.
