The Reptile Discovery Program provides an opportunity for audiences of all ages to meet, learn about, and enjoy members of the reptile family from all over the world.
Each program features an Amazonian tortoise, an alligator snapping turtle, unique crocodilians, lizards and a variety of colorful and gentle non- venomous snakes including "Banana Boy," the 16 foot albino python from Thailand. Their natural history, geography and conservation are presented in a manner that everyone can enjoy and easily understand.
The importance of reptiles in nature is emphasized and their impact on the lives of people is also discussed. A demonstration of the reptile training techniques used by professional zookeepers is included as well.
The Reptile Discovery Program can be presented at almost any venue. Our birthday party programs create positive "lifetime family memories." Our scout programs carry on a tradition began in Florida by E. Ross Allen and our Meet N Greet programs for
corporate functions and festivals are extremely popular.
Since 1974, based in Florida since 1994, Bruce Shwedick has shared his passion and knowledge of reptiles with audiences across the United States. He combines an ability to communicate with a skillful and gentle approach for an unforgettable look at the world of reptiles! Bruce has presented this educational and entertaining program for thousands of schools and for many colleges and universities as well.
He has also presented his programs at zoological parks, aquariums and botanical gardens. For the past twenty years, his lectures on the subject of venomous snakebite have been an annual part of tropical medicine courses for medical personnel serving in the United States Armed Forces.
He is a working member of the IUCN/ SSC Crocodile Specialist Group and actively particpates in many international crocodilian conservation programs.
