Vanderslice Hall, built in 1896, is a three-story red-brick mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is considered an outstanding example of 19th century Flemish Queen Anne-style architecture. Inside, is our newly remodeled Epperson Auditorium offering hardwood floors and wood paneled walls banked with windows on both sides. The Auditorium also offers a 9’ square built-in projection screen, multiple wall-mounted spotlights and a state-of-the-art sound system.
Also available are the Vanderslice Reception Rooms & Patio. The reception rooms are the perfect venue for an upscale social event or high-powered business meeting. Crystal chandeliers, crown molding, a richly appointed fireplace and antique furniture provide an elegant setting for any occasion. The spacious patio overlooks the heart of KCAI’s beautiful campus and provides additional space for your event in fine weather.
The outdoor venues include the Central Lawn and the J.C. Nichols Patio Garden. The Central Lawn lies at the heart of KCAI’s campus. Dotted with beautiful shade trees and typically accented by student sculpture installations, this large outdoor expanse is perfect for any function, large or small. The J.C. Nichols Patio Garden offers a beautiful location for your next garden party or other intimate outdoor event and features winding walkways and a small knoll where student sculptures are typically displayed.
The H&R Block Artspace is the Kansas City Art Institute’s public gallery located at 16 E. 43rd Street. The Roger L. and Joni Cohen Resource Room at the Artspace offers contemporary, concrete floors and open ceiling exposing the metal beams. The open floor plan and changing exhibits makes this a truly versatile and exciting location for social events to business meetings.
