Donnelly Reed Estate was home to 3-term Senator, Kansas City mayor, and 2-time presidential candidate, James A. Reed, and his wife, Nell Donnelly Reed. Nell was one of the 20th century's first female millionaires due to the great success of her garment-making business, Donnelly Garment Company. Essentially, Nell and James were one of Kansas City's first "power couples".
The estate reflects the history and elegance of the lifestyle of wealthy Kansas City civic leaders of that era, and creates a unique and inviting backdrop to any type of event to as large as 250 people.
