The Atlantic City Historic Waterfront Foundation was incorporated in 1976 and functions in a public- private partnership with the City of Atlantic City specifically to operate and develop Historic Gardner's Basin. It is a 501 c tax exempt organization. Its purpose is to provide waterfront recreational access to the public, conduct marine education programs for schools, youth groups and adult eco- tour groups and Maritime Historical preservation.
A unique feature of the Historic Gardner's Basin as an attraction is it's accessibility via watercraft. Boaters from throughout the area visit the Basin regularly for its restaurants, the Atlantic City Aquarium, the Crafters Village and other amenities.
