Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Rafael Vi oly and completed in 2001, The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts affords an astounding contemporary backdrop to more than one thousand cultural, educational and private events hosted here each year.
The interior of the Kimmel Center features three performance venues. The state-of-the-art Verizon Hall, home of The Philadelphia Orchestra, can seat 2,500 for performances or meetings. The Perelman Theater is a multi-use space, featuring a turntable that transforms the theater from an intimate recital hall to a proscenium theater with a deep stage, fly loft and orchestra pit. First-level theater seats may be lowered and retracted to create a flat floor for cabaret performances and catered events. Innovation Studio is a black box theater that may be used as a performance, rehearsal or event space.
There are various ancillary spaces as well. Included among them are the dramatic rooftop Hamilton Garden, featuring spectacular views of Philadelphia's skyline, and the grand Commonwealth Plaza, providing a large gathering space beneath the Kimmel Center's soaring 150-foot vaulted glass roof.
All of these performance venues and ancillary spaces are available for private events, productions and meetings.
