Oaklands began in 1815. The Murfree- Maney family took up residence before 1820. A former battle- site in the Civil War, Oaklands was as important then as it is today. It's beautiful facade and glorious furnishings, as well as its significance to both armies in the Civil War make it a "must see" for visitors to the area.
As with other plantations in the Old South, Oaklands fell into great disrepair after the war. Ten women formed an association and saved Oaklands from the wrecking ball. 2009 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Oaklands Historic House Museum. Due to the heartfelt work and dedication, Oaklands' almost 10,000 square foot home is a museum today.
Oaklands is a romantic and unforgettable location as an event site. Visitors are impressed by the affordability of our reception site, Maney Hall. Please come and visit today. We look forward to seeing you here, at Oaklands Historic House Museum.
