Roy started making and writing music in his youth. He used local bands and solo performances to work his way through his Alma Mater, Oklahoma University. He played bass for Ike and Tina Turner (before their split-up) and has sung and played with Bonnie Raitt and a few other nationally known artist since the early 2000's.
Roy normally works as a solo artist, and is also a member of a great North Texas "oldies" band - "RetroActive". He has played with many other small combos, large bands, and a big city symphony (on the string bass).
Roy co-wrote and played on a song "Groovy Grubworm" with a former band mate (Harlow Wilcox) that went to #1 on the country charts in the late 70's, and was nominated for a Grammy that same year.
He now does 'solo work' (singing, guitar, and miked tambourine), that creates a very 'full' sound for a solo entertainer.
Roy has performed one-man-shows in Las Vegas. He has also played hotel lounges, night clubs, bars, big and small parties, and various functions at large and small conventions around the country.
Roy Harkey has received approximately 22 profile views in the last three months.
