One of the great young guitar players of Southwest Virginia, Ross Flora continues to make his mark throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. Currently working with one of the premier producers in the area, Ross and band mates were recently signed for the production of their second CD, concurrently with the scheduling of their highest profile performance to
date at Roanoke's prestigious Festival in the Park in May of 2008.
Ross is also soon to be finished tracking his first solo CD project on the White House Record label, with the project due for mastering and release in the summer of 2008. In this project Ross showcases all styles, from the guitar dominated sounds similar to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai to the funk and hip hop styles that originate from his rhythm and blues background.
Having shared stages with gospel music legends Larnell Starkey and the Spiritual Seven, and after
having studied the R&B masters since he was 12 years old, Ross is a legitimate funk and rhythm
and blues stylist.
Ross has learned at an early age - great guitar playing is at the opposite polar spectrum of instant
gratification. It is, instead, a lifelong process, sometimes painstakingly slow to arrive in it's own time - and on it's own terms.
Ross's homage to old school players, his dedication to classic vintage instruments, and his unending, consuming, obsessive pursuit of guitar tone make him unique among his peers. His young age belies his musical mastery and drive for the perfect performance.
Most of all, Ross's spiritual maturity lends a depth to his music. He openly credits and thanks God
for his talents, for the gift of sound, for that unknown mystery from God's creation of us that allows
harmony and chord structure to be pleasing to our ears - and our souls. For a forgiving God who often loves us in spite of ourselves, and for a God who allows us to express that love to each other through music.
