I like to work with each couple to determine the type and style of ceremony they want, giving them numerous samples to choose from. A consultation meting or two is included in the fee.
As a New Thought minister I can perform spiritually oriented ceremonies, interfaith, cultural or non- religious ceremonies to meet the couples needs. Sometimes a couple wants to write their own vows but has some trouble knowing how to begin. In that situation I can engage them in discussion that can help them to better define what they want to say. We review the various parts of a typical marriage ceremony and their purpose to help the couple decide what portions to include and know what is not necessary.
Once the couple has chosen the parts of the ceremony it is time to consider the style and inclusion of readings, poetry, music, other special ceremonies such as the unity candle. Now is also the time to designate who, besides the couple, will participate or be recognized during the ceremony. If a rehearsal is desired I can be available for that.
I have performed many weddings outdoors as well as in and can provide guidance on special needs outdoors. On the day of the ceremony I like to arrive early and obtain all of the required signatures and information to file the marriage certificate. It is easier to do that before the wedding than after and then there is also time to review last minute questions.
My ceremonial robe, which is optional, is eggplant colored. I like to create a ribboned booklet containing their unique wedding service for each couple to keep as a cherished memory of their commitment to one another.
