The Merchant's House Museum -- New York City's only family home preserved intact from the 19th century -- offers a unique and elegant setting for weddings, private parties, special events, corporate functions, and film shoots.
The first floor's Greek Revival double parlors boast 13 1/2-foot ceilings with decorative plaster moldings, ionic columns, mahogany pocket doors, matching black-and-gold Italian marble mantelpieces, and fine New York furniture of the period.
The ground floor houses a 19th-century kitchen, with cast-iron stove and brick oven, and the family room. A modern kitchen and two bathrooms are also on the ground floor. Behind the house lies a 25' x 50' garden with granite parterres, 19th-century-style cast-iron furniture, and lush plantings. The upstairs bedchambers are open for viewing during events.
One may rent the ground floor (19th-century kitchen and family room), and 19th-century garden --which can be tented -- for cocktail receptions, seated dinners, bridal showers, engagement parties, birthdays, weddings, and afternoon teas.
The space is also appropriate for lectures, corporate gatherings, conferences, or seminars. And for the film and production industry, the Merchant's House is available for still photography, live photography, and cinematic productions.
