The Salmagundi Club, originated in 1871 as a sketch class in Johnathan Scott Hartley's studio and purchased this mid-nineteenth century brownstone house in 1917 as its second home. It was cited in 1957 for its architectural distinction by the Society of Architectural Historians and the Municipal Art Society. Upon entering the building, you are at once struck by the dramatic chandelier that hangs 3-stories down the center of the dramatic main staircase.

The Parlor exudes graceful, classical taste from the original ceiling moldings to the chandeliers, the grand piano, and delicate ornamentation around the fireplace. The Gallery is a spacious, grand exhibition showroom. Downstairs are the Dining and Billiard Rooms.

The Dining Room has the mellow air of an early English Tavern, while the Billiard Room provides an outstanding exhibition space as well as a more relaxed ambience for informal gatherings.

Smaller rooms perfect for more intimate meetings or talks are available on the upper floors, including the Board Room and the Library.
Salmagundi Art Club has received approximately 23 profile views in the last three months.
