I started as a fine art photographer, and after some exhibition and publishing successes, I branched out, first into portraits, then fashion, and finally wedding photography. I love shooting weddings because they combine the best elements of the above: the beauty and timelessness of fine art photography, the warmth and soul of people photography, the grace, glamor, and excitement of fashion photography, and even some of the action of sports photography, which I've also done.
All of my photography, including weddings, is a labor of love. I regard each wedding as an important, special photographic project, and give it the time, attention, and focus that it deserves.
I call my style "narrative," which simply means that my goal is to tell the story of the wedding -- not just who, what, when and where, but the rich excitement, emotion, and spirit of the day and all it symbolizes. This is what is often called "photojournalistic" or "documentary" wedding photography which has grown in popularity during the past decade or two. I prefer the term "narrative" because some photojournalism is a bit colder than my approach. I try to capture the special, exciting moments of the day in a style which emphasizes the soul, heart and beauty of the occasion. Weddings, after all, are ultimately about love.
