Compass Rose Gardens is a cluster of lush and lovely plantings secreted away in a narrow canyon just west of California Highway One as it winds through the tiny fishing and resort village of Bodega Bay, California.
The main path leads your wedding or party guests to the rear of the property where a large weathered-wood deck offers itself as a dining, dancing, and or buffet service site. A pair of charming miniature cottages, and a large fieldstone barbecue pit are adjacent to the deck. The cottages serve as staging areas for some functions (including a dressing room for brides), while the barbecue pit has a prep and service deck of its own- one which thrusts into and overlooks the stream that cut the canyon and serves as the water supply for the plantings.
As the stream heads west, it passes a pair of open lawn areas and then bisects a third. The western half of that third greensward, reached by an arching wooden deck, is the most popular site for ceremonies of all sorts ... weddings, renewals, memorial celebrations. Backed by willows, Japanese maples, and a fern-softened shady contemplation copse, this area is beautifully framed for viewing from the lawn on the southern stream bank.
Compass Rose Gardens has received approximately 163 profile views in the last three months.
