My name is Kristin Kanan. I have been a photographer for 23 years. I took my first photograph in 1983 when I was in the 8th grade. I realized at that moment, that my mind worked like a camera, capturing details that most people don’t notice. I fell in love with photography instantly.

For years, I continued to take pictures, but never focused on it as a way to earn a living. With marriage, motherhood and daily realities of life, I looked at photography simply as a hobby. As the years passed, my life pressed on with many ups and downs, putting all else before my skill and love for photography. Finally, I realized it was time to "focus on me" and FocusOnME was born. At this point "Focus on Me" has evolved, and has come to also mean "Focus on Maine"!

I am a photojournalistic photographer. I capture things as they unfold naturally, rather than staging shots.
