Horrible Experience with our Wedding! Very unprofessional. Was told things would be done and they were not. We had to spend hours cleaning the barn to get it ready for the reception. Even had to move things around and move it out of the way. Our deposit
was stolen from us. We did not sign a contract. Even after we stayed after for hours and cleaned. The barn was left in better shape then it was before we came! The breakers kept tripping while we were trying to cook food and run heaters. Because there was
no heat and it was cold we brought electric heaters and we could not use them. I was very disappointed and it really ruined our wedding with all of the horrible things we had to deal with. Every time I think about our wedding it just reminds me of this horrible
place and I HATE it! I contacted the owner later to get our deposit back and he was VERY rude. I was yelled at and hung up on. I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE!!!
I realize this is months late, but I want to make sure no other brides have to go through what I and another bride were made to. While on my honeymoon, Walter (the owner) contacted me and accused me (or someone at the wedding) of stealing a fire extinguisher.
We had moved the extinguisher as to keep it out of pictures and I told him where we moved it. He was adamant that the one in that place was not the same one. I referred him to my mother-in-law as I was on my honeymoon. Per my mil, Walter lost his temper and
yelled at her over sidewalk chalk and silly string (which use of neither was prohibited in the contract). When my mil offered to come and clean it, he said no. A week later, we contacted him again regarding our security deposit. He stated that he was out of
town and would mail it to us upon his return. When a couple weeks had passed and no check came, we called again. This time, he stated that he had changed his mind and was not returning the deposit. He then hung up on us. I called again a few days later. He
accused us of nailing things to the bathroom door and using industrial staples on the ceiling. When I denied the use of these, he told me that someone in my wedding party had sent him pictures proving that we had. When I again denied this and stated that I
had pictures proving we had not, he fell back on the sidewalk chalk and silly string. I told him that the contract mentioned neither and brought up the fact that he hadn't mowed grass nor cleaned the venue as promised. He laughed when I mentioned the contract.
I found another bride that had gotten married shortly after me and found out that he had done the exact same thing to her, even accusing her of the same things. Another bride's husband told me that they knew Walter and thought he might be getting dementia.
At any rate, future brides, PLEASE be careful when using this venue. We never got our deposit back and spent weeks getting the run around, getting accused of theft among other things, and feeling regret every time we see pictures of the venue.
Pending security deposit return.
