Guests enter the Museum and are led up a gilded metal staircase to the main floor. Italian marble floors, marble fireplaces, and 14 foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows are just some of the original interior finishes that have been preserved. One of the few remaining lakefront mansions, the building truly embodies the Gold Coast splendor of the early 20th Century and is located just minutes away from downtown Chicago.
Lectures, meetings, receptions, and dinners hosted at the Museum offer your guests an elegant setting, interesting exhibits, and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. With a capacity of 200 for a reception, 100 for a dinner and 75 for a lecture, the Museum provides an intimate yet stimulating atmosphere. Our event staff can help you in the selection of caterers, AV specialists, musicians, florists and photographers. We understand the importance of your event and will work closely with you to ensure its success.
All events are focused on the second floor of the Museum in the Hall of Immortals and Hall of Murals, while providing the opportunity for your guests to stroll through the exhibits on the other floors at their leisure. The Museum’s exhibits span the history of medicine and surgery by means of art, books, medical instruments and artifacts. Our collection appeals to anyone interested in history, art, science, and architecture. This City of Chicago landmark was designed by noted Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw and is listed in both the National Register and the Illinois Register of Historic Places.
