Secluded at Makena Resort on a perfect smile of a beach at the foot of Haleakala, The Maui Prince Hotel is a sanctuary. The serenity can be felt from the first moment a lei of seashells is draped over your shoulders and you are welcomed with the genuine smiles and warm attention of the staff.

The resort has no immediate neighbors and is built around an Asian meditation garden with stone paths, quiet corners for contemplation, waterfalls, and streams swarming with brilliant red and gold carp. The roof is the sky. The door of every room opens to this atrium, while the windows and lanai (balcony) look out upon the ocean.

Most people settle into the immediate serenity and find themselves sitting beside the pool or in a cabana on the beach, watching all the little white boats streaming to Molokini. And if the sea is calm, they may hear the great humpback whales singing in the deep.
