Peter Stepanek was born in Czechoslovakia on November 28, 1975. As a child, he was always curious and fascinated by photography and television. It was a wonderful mystery which he decided to peruse. The journey began.

He traveled throughout Europe and the Balkans with his family and visited several countries allied behind the iron curtain. It was very difficult, if not impossible, to travel to the western countries, but all that changed on November 11, 1989 when the Berlin wall fell.

Peter's family saw great opportunity and shortly after moved to Sweden to reunite with the rest of the family who escaped under the Russian invasion in the Spring of 1968. Peter spend his teenage years in Halmstad, an old town dated back to the 13th century. Surrounded by the ocean, beaches, deep mushroom forests, museums, galleries with exhibitions of both Swedish and international artists, he also saw year- round concerts, movies, elections, guided tours and festivals.

Peter was active in his community and attended many of these events. He made his way behind the camera, falling in love with taking pictures and mastering the craft of grasping the emotion of any ceremony, family affair, historical moments and special events.

July 1998 was time for another adventure and Peter came to United States Of America and traveled throughout the country. Once again, his keen eye and creativity, matched with his dynamic personality, have made him one of the finest photographers in the area.

He currently lives in Georgetown with his wife Nadia and Gia, their Jack Russell Terrier (named after a famous model Gia Carangi).

I purchased a LivingSocial deal and he set up the time for 2 pm and place and date. I arrived on time, he was late. When he arrived, he was clearly ready to book the other family that had arrived and when I told him I was his appointment, he said there was nothing he could do about it because the other people had paid full-price. He asked if I had confirmation and when I showed him the email, his response was "oh that was 10 days ago." He said even if I waited till 5 pm, it wouldn't matter because he was already booked. He apologized and said it happens to him (too bad he doesn't have some sort of backup plan for when he does double-book). I told him I had driven for an hour to get to his location and he said so did the other family and did he expect me not to take pictures of the other children. I told him I have a 3 week old (mind you he selected an outdoor location in 95 degree weather, knowing she was so young) and he said, "oh well." He was rude, unprofessional, had to plan to fix the problem he had created and no work ethic. There are way too many talented photographers to have to deal with his failings. So run, run in the opposite direction and make sure to never deal with him.
