Once a private estate built by Ralston White as a wedding gift to his bride Ruth, this lovely mansion and retreat offers a setting of serenity and beauty on the sunny southeast slope of Mt. Tamalpais, just 20 minutes north of San Francisco.
Completed in 1913, the 14,400 square foot mansion retains the charm of its original elegant design with high ceilings, a stained glass skylight, graceful woodwork, and its unique heart-shaped lawn. The living room is spacious and comfortable, and there are many beautiful porches and patio areas from which to enjoy the view. Light pours in through the large southern windows, and on wintry days, guests can enjoy a fire in the large stone fireplace. The Grand Room accommodates up to 45 guests seated in a living room setting, or up to 120 guests at tables for weddings and special events.
With comfortable overnight accommodations for up 45 guests, Ralston White Retreat is the ideal location for retreats, weddings, and family reunions.Guests of the Ralston White Retreat enjoy exclusive use of the mansion and 43 acres of private redwood forest. There are several hiking trails on the property leading to our pond, stream, or expansive views of San Francisco and the bay, Mt Tamalpais and surrounding ridges as well as connecting trails that lead to the top of the mountain. Other recreational activities include croquet on the lawn, ping-pong, volleyball, basketball, and horseshoes. Our wonderful location above the quaint village of Mill Valley, just a short drive from San Francisco and 30 minutes to Stinson Beach and Muir Woods, is the perfect location for those hoping to explore the beauty of Northern California.
