Rev. Bonnie has been on a spiritual path all of her life. Recognizing and believing in the innate worth and sacredness that exists within each of us, her initial efforts were directed towards the raising up of battered women and all women. While working as a staff member at a national women's organization, she began to "connect the dots" between all of the civil rights movements.
For the next 20 years Bonnie devoted herself to building bridges of understanding and acceptance between diverse communities. Her consulting firm reached thousands of people and helped scores of organizations address some of their most challenging diversity issues.
Accepted as a student at the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development, she began studying under founder and director Iyanla Vanzant in 2003. Following this two year odyssey and time of personal growth and discovery, she was called to attend The New Seminary in New York City as an accelerated student, culminating with her June 2006 ordination as an interfaith minister.
As an interfaith minister she continues to "connect the dots" between all people, one person at a time, with patience, openness, and true caring. Rev. Bonnie served as a chaplain in the Emergency Department at the George Washington University Hospital for four years, and is currently an Associate Minister at the Takoma Chapel.
As a wedding officiant, Rev. Bonnie is registered with the DC Marriage Bureau. She officiated at the first public same-sex marriage on the courthouse steps when DC's same-sex marriage law took effect. For those couples coming to DC from out of the area, Rev. Bonnie can file the application for their Certificate of Marriage to save them time and have it ready for the couple's arrival. Rev. Bonnie offers both spiritual and civil ceremonies.
