After 15 years of working professionally as a keyboardist in various New York bands, Stephen decided to break away and bring his talents to a sunny place where palm trees grow. Savannah GA had all the right ingredients, so in 1990 Stephen packed his bags and made the move. At first his focus was primarily on laid back "water" music. No loud rock, no country, no disco... just a nice selection of reggae, smooth Latin rhythm's and various original tunes inspired by the waves and balmy breezes.
This approach worked well for relaxing afternoon beach settings, but when it came time to get down and party, he just wasn't there. Of course he knew what the people wanted from his many years of experience working in Top 40 bands, but he had no interest playing loud party music at that point. Fortunately, Stephen came to his senses and began to incorporate DJ dance tunes into his afternoon beach show. So now it was best of both worlds; live soothing music balanced by upbeat dance tunes. It wasn't long before Stephen became anointed as "Savannah Steve" by a Caribbean airline president who hired him to perform at the Key Air layover lounge at the Savannah airport for around 1,000 travelers each day. After a year of this insanity, the airline went under, but Savannah Steve was now enjoying "celebrity" status and realized it was time to up the act. He became more of a showman, dressed better and began to take his career seriously.
As a result, he now regularly performs at many exclusive communities and resorts throughout the Southeast; an amazing feat for someone who was simply happy playing quiet tunes under a palm tree! The point of it all, you're not going to find another act like Savannah Steve. His musical presentation is unique, polite and professional.
