The beauty of an intricate mosaic resides not in any one of its thousand stones but arises from their unique combination; and like a mosaic, the beauty and power of a wedding resides not just in one moment but in the thousand tiny moments that make up this singular event.
To photograph a wedding is an extraordinary honor. As a wedding photographer, I believe it is my responsibility to do more than assemble a collection of beautiful images; it is to document this experience, to safeguard and preserve it, to capture its joy, its solemnity and its transformative power. When photographing a wedding, I respond intuitively to the rhythm and flavor of the day and of the couple. To be flexible, responsive and sensitive, ever-present but never intrusive: these are the hallmarks of my approach to photography.
A great wedding album tells a story: about the couple, their community, their love for one another. The album is a testament to the experience they are enacting, the journey they are undertaking, their transformation from separate to joined. To tell this story through photography, I strive to unobtrusively capture a wedding's myriad moments of intimacy and unstaged joy, its endless tiny details: the sparkle of her earring as she adjusts her veil; a glimpse of his gentle hand at the curve of her waist; a bridesmaid's smile as she listens to the exchange of vows; the knowing glance shared between the new husband and wife during a toast given in their honor.
