Nestled below the 12 story red brick building that now encompasses the eccentric Hotel Chelsea, founded in 1883, is a nightlife haven that has again come to life. The Chelsea Room exudes the ambiance that the famous creative celebrities who resided there, such as Andy Warhol, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Janice Joplin, and others displayed years ago. This new space preserves the culture, the allure, sexy intrigue, and history that has always existed in the Hotel Chelsea.
The newly designed and renovated room was partially designed by the new owners along with architect, Michael De Luna, to collectively bring the Chelsea Room back in time to its late 19th century roots. The design aligns the décor of the venue with the historic elements of the hotel that have been preserved for more than a century. Spanning 2,700 square feet, it only made sense to lay wide plank floors made from recycled wood that is over 100 years old. Stripping the ceiling to the original red brick work uncovered an extraordinary vaulted ceiling, reminiscent of a cathedral.
The Chelsea Room's restored style is accentuated through up lighting, a dim candle light setting, and vintage crystal chandeliers, creating a romantic and intimate ambiance. The complete gut renovation makes the Chelsea Room one of the most sought after venues, with two beautiful and sleek bars on the two sides of the rooms, a centralized DJ system, and perimeter seating to create an open space perfect for your next event.
