It was a serendipitous event in 2006 that began my life as a wedding officiant. The daughter of a close friend asked if I would consider presiding over her wedding. I agreed, became a notary public and thus began my role as a wedding officiant. Another friend who knew me and my penchant for the lightly irreverent dubbed me "Da Rev'ren DoWedRite," which got many a chuckle, but it was another friend who coined the moniker that I ultimately embraced, "The Marriage Impresario."
I discovered the joy of marrying people was as much in getting to know them on a personal level, and crafting a ceremony that distinctly reflected their personalities.
I like to include the story of how you and your spouse-to-be met and how the relationship matured, making sure I tap into any funny moments you shared that enliven a ceremony.
Our initial time together will be spent getting to know each other and determining whether I'm the person to perform what is arguably the most important ceremony one experiences in life.
Once that's established, we then will go over the ceremony in detail, identifying those things about your lives you wish to include; do you want to write and/or deliver your own vows, do you want to quote scripture, and, if so, any particular verses you wish recited, and, lastly, poems and other narratives on love crafted by some of the world's finest writers.
This experience as a wedding officiant will be the last vocational task I will undertake in a career than spans 40+ years and includes work as a human resources executive, a management consultant, a public speaker, an arbitrator and a community volunteer.
What better way to bring an end to my working life than to share in the glorious celebration of bringing two people together.
