The Uptown Players, a Kansas City-based funk / soul / R&B band, provides high quality, sophisticated live music designed to ensure the best musical entertainment for your venue, wedding, corporate event or social gala.
The Uptown Players have the unique ability to perform as a five, six or seven piece group in order to accomodate the needs of our clients. Regardless of band size, the Uptown Players will deliver a superior performance showcasing a highly talented group of musicians. A versatile lead vocalist, a rhythm section of keyboards, guitar, bass and drums and a horn section consisting of alto sax and trombone comprise our roster of world-class entertainers.
We perform from a soulful repertoire of a variety of popular and legendary songs from artist such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin. In addition, we offer a jazz showcase featuring music originally performed or written by jazz giants such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Miles Davis.
